Throughout the month of August there are plenty of opportunities for students interested in STEM! We’ve collected a list of eight opportunities focused on science, technology, engineering, and math. Below is a collection of scholarships and programs that will either be held this month or have applications open this August.
The Jay Holstine STEM Scholarship was created to assist students who are passionate about learning and committed to excelling in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math. To apply, write a 700-850 words essay discussing your reasoning for selecting a STEM major, your career goals, and the economic adversity you have faced to complete your education. CUSABIO is a biotech company providing ELISA kits, antibodies, recombinant proteins, and custom services to support life sciences research globally. CUSABIO launched scholarship funds to assist students in biological and life sciences, aiming to foster future scientific achievements. Chevron and UNCF have collaborated to create The UNCF Chevron Corporate Scholars Program, a selective scholarship aimed at supporting driven students in higher education. This program offers a renewable, two-year merit-based scholarship to outstanding future leaders who excel academically, exhibit strong leadership, and have an interest in the energy sector. The Gates Scholarship is a highly selective, last-dollar award for exceptional minority high school seniors from low-income backgrounds, covering the full cost of attendance not met by other financial aid. Ideal candidates are academically outstanding, demonstrate strong leadership, and possess exceptional personal success skills. The Marion T. Coleman Pathways Scholarship, established by the Network of Behavioral Health Providers, supports undergraduate and graduate behavioral health students in their final years of study in the greater Houston area, helping them complete unpaid internships or practicums. The National College Match application allows high-achieving high school seniors from low-income backgrounds to apply for free to top colleges, with the potential to receive a full four-year scholarship covering tuition, housing, and other expenses. Admitted students join a supportive community of QuestBridge Scholars and gain access to a network of over 20,000 alumni for ongoing support and opportunities. The San Diego Chapter of AEP offers free student memberships, which include benefits like networking opportunities, scholarships, and reduced rates for events and conferences, to support students pursuing careers in the environmental field. The Student Chapter aims to strengthen connections between students and environmental professionals through various programs and resources. The Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation awards $3.55 million annually to over 1,400 college students through three nationally recognized programs. The Coca-Cola Scholars Program specifically honors high school seniors who demonstrate leadership and a commitment to making a positive impact, with 150 students each year receiving a $20,000 scholarship.
