I have a complicated relationship with sale weekends. On one hand: the inbox avalanche, the fake urgency, the “70% OFF*” with an asterisk doing heavy lifting… On the other, this is genuinely the window when the brands I love and actually buy from, you know, the small, independent, made-with-care ones, mark things down enough that I let myself bite on a few things I’ve been eyeing. So I did the sorting for you. Everything below is a company I’d vouch for even at full price.
Threads and Tribulations is a reader-supported publication. Your support allows me to continue spending countless hours putting together the most informative posts I can. Please consider becoming a paid or free subscriber.
Kitty and Vibe — 25% off sitewide Their “Splash Sale” is live and I’ve been absolutely loving their swimwear lately. Size inclusive and well made.
25% isn’t a blowout, but it’s everything, no code, no minimum.
My Picks:
I just recently got this set (top, bottom) and I think it’s so freaking cute.
Ace & Jig — their biggest sale of the year The “Everything Sale,” auto-applied at checkout. If you’ve never touched their textiles, you’re in for it, everything is yarn-dyed, woven on old looms, and somehow gets better the more you wash it. I consider Ace & Jig my fun vacation wear brand.
My picks:
I’m sorry, but these pants are an absolute need.
Also these fun party pants.
And I think this dress is absolutely stunning for all of your south of France strolling needs.
Sea New York — up to 60% off Their Summer Sale, and the discounts go deep. Sea is the brand I’ve really been looking at after going through my Post-Beige Renaissance™. At up to 60%, the past-season pieces are the move.
My Picks:
Hi, I love her. Poncho
I find their clothes super unique, plus all of their styling is so fun and dreamy. This top is to die for (I bought it)
M.Gemi — up to 60% off select styles Italian-made shoes, and a brand built on the genuinely lovely premise of selling you handcrafted footwear without the four-figure markup. I adore my boots and will be expanding my collection.
My picks:
These loafers are the definition of chic.
These clogs might be my most unhinged “need” purchase.
Portland Leather Goods — 30% off Full-grain leather, made in Portland, and the 30% code only swings around a few times a year, so this is the window.
If you want a good, everyday bag that won’t break the bank, this would be my pick.
Teddy Blake — up to 45% off Italian-made structured bags at prices that already undercut the big houses, now up to 45% off for the weekend. My Teddy Blake is one of my most used bags and still looks pristine.
My picks:
I’ve been eyeing one of their totes recently.
And if you want to swing for something special, the big luxury retailers are all running their Designer Sales at up to 50% off - Net-a-Porter, Moda Operandi, and Mytheresa. This is where I go hunting for the one investment piece, the designer thing I’d never pay full freight for. Dig past the first page; the best stuff is buried.
My picks:
Gabriela Hearst IMO is one of the few designers that is actually worth your money. (And even then, I can pretty much only justify buying it on a steep sale - growing up poor problems and all). This dress is bound to be super well made.
Lowk love these pants.
That’s the list. You don’t need all of it - nobody does - but if there’s one piece you’ve been quietly wanting, this is a kind weekend to let yourself have it.
And if you want all of my curated second-hand recommendations, consider becoming a paid subscriber for that newsletter.
Happy hunting.
xx, Olga
