My dear sweet Lex Type Thing subscribers,

I started publishing this newsletter a little over a month ago. In that time, I have shared three (I think) articles and amassed 20 whole subscribers! That’s fucking wild, and I am so grateful for each and every one of you.

I had every intention of sticking to a weekly posting schedule. I think I may have been able to keep up with it if I hadn’t spent the last few weeks floating between Ohio, New York, and Louisiana with a country musician and two elderly dogs in tow.

A whole lot of life happened while we were on the road:

I reunited with my favorite cult members former coworkers to watch the aforementioned country musician sing songs in Brooklyn,

fed Highland cows in the Blue Ridge Mountains,

partook in the many delicacies of the Deep South,

and tumbled over in the street several many times while watching two of my favorite humans get married in New Orleans.

Even though our house remains an active construction zone and I have no idea where any of my belongings are, I’d like to get back to some sort of posting schedule for Lex Type Thing. I’m thinking of sending out an email every Tuesday (for “C U next Tuesday” reasons, of course), with content alternating between essays/longer-form work and “Stuff & Things,” the round-up of stuff (as well as things!) that I recently I liked on the internet and occasionally in real-life.

Does this sound good to y’all? I sure hope it does because that’s what’s going to happen.

I am hoping to feel settled enough to start this routine next week with a Stuff & Things email, so keep your eyes glued to your inbox. In the meantime I hope this email has quelled your insatiable thirst for Lex Type Thing(s).

See you next Tuesday (fingers crossed)!

P.S. - While I was writing this, I got the NYT notification that D’Angelo passed away. Maybe I’ll write more about him, and getting to see him live about ten years ago, in next week’s email but for now, I’ll leave you all with this gorgeous SNL performance of “Really Love.”

Rest in peace.
