Be it me here
Soft gaze and easeful heart
That I look upon the foothills to my back
Mossy knolls of varying heights
Some tread hard to near black
Another combed by spring wind
Dances there wildflower and clover’s luck
But by and by
Though softness yearns
It’s ahead the dream wanders
Towards the rising sun
Hard be it to hope upon the valley
Hidden dark beyond the jagged peak
One can wish, one can wish
Again toward the wandered hills I spy
Fellow traveller having taken stake
His body ease in comfort root
A babe in lover’s bloom
Eyes fixed upon their seasoned place
Though known within
The eye unseen
Mourns the hope of the hidden valley
Which path to chose
To walk or wait
Man’s greatest war
And so
To the light kissed morn I turn once more
It’s siren call too pierced to fade
And gift my life, my foot, my soul
To the blackened earth and mossy knoll
