Just couldn’t get over the hump the last few nights at Del Mar, we were alive to the late pick 3 and/or all turf pick 3 and kept striking out in the last inning. Hopefully some of you were savvy enough to get the winning combo home and make some money. We will look at the all turf pick 3 today and see what we can do.

Race 1- 6,1,3

The 6 Killourney Reigns is the speed of the speed in here and cuts back from the six furlongs to the five. The horse was tugging and pulling and never really settled for his first start as a three-year-old here stateside, should be better second time out. The 1 Dr. My Eyes had trouble at the break getting pinched to last, not where he wants to be. He should be more forward, but regardless still kicked on from last to only miss by two lengths to next out stakes winner Proleteriat. The 3 Wiki Kane closed feverishly last out but did get a pretty strong pace to run at, I don’t think this race sets up as well but is going second off the layoff and has a right to take another step forward here. I will lean on the 6 and 1 though with the 3 on backup tickets.

Race 3- 9,10,6,

Wide open here as many are going from dirt to turf and not a lot to go on. Probably want to be able to spread this leg and go skinnier in the others if possible. The 9 Missed Fortune got shuffled early, which in a sprint, is tough to overcome especially first out. Race appears to be more of a prep since connections believe this horse will excel at two turns, and his trainer has good stats here. The 6 Believer never got to show what he’s capable of as he was shuffled and checked early and never really got a chance to run. Adds blinkers and goes long now, pedigree is a combo of speed on the dam and distance on the sire side so could be there. The 10 Enoy the Ride is another that found trouble in his lone turf sprint. Has some pedigree that suggests talent here so worth a shot.

Race 8- 5,6,2

We close out the sequence here. The 5 Green Zone goes second off the layoff, ran wide on the far turn and will be sitting a nice pocket trip behind the inside speeds of the two and three. She narrowly defeated the 6 Suntory Time who broke slow but finished up very nicely. A clean break and I can’t say there is much that separates the two of these. If you did want to spread a little more, I would include the 2 Eighties who projects to be the lone speed here unless the 3 gets keen again. The 2 follows the angle i like when a horse shows speed and fades against tougher coming off a layoff, now drops second out. Usually the speed carries more and there arent any major world beaters in this race and she could get brave up front. This specific distance typically doesnt produce wire to wire winners but she may have as good a chance as any with this class drop.

Best of luck!
