Interior Notes: The Shopping List - Bumper Edition #20

It’s my 20th shopping list post and it coincides with a flurry of new subscribers…thank you so much, everyone! In light of this, I’m doing a bumper edition as it seems only fair, right?

As always, my focus is on small businesses and vintage/antique pieces as the big guys are doing just fine on their own. For ease, I’ve tried to group things a bit more than I usually do. So, here goes…

First up, some very cool bar stools but I’ll caveat this by saying I don’t generally love bar stools as I don’t find them to be very comfortable or aesthetically pleasing. These vine twist stools at least tick the second box, they’d make a very cool statement.

Bedside tables are surprisingly tricky to find as you often have space constraints, so are looking for something very particular. I love that these Art Deco burr bedsides are relatively slim but also have some drawers - practical bonus points - and the pattern is so unusual. You’d pay a lot more than this for something similar at Soho House…

I’ve been keeping this table to myself for a while as I wanted it. Alas, it was too large for the space, but oh my it’s the perfect coffee table.

This vintage chequerboard rug would look so cool in a kid’s room, but equally I can see it working really well in a living room - imagine warm white walls, lots of artwork and colourful furniture. It’s big, so you’d almost certainly not have the rug island issue so many homes have.

Colours of Arley are the Stripe Queens, I love that you can create a bespoke stripe out of so many colour choices. If you want to take away the guess work, they also have some ready made options. Blue and red are my brand colours, so I’m really vibing this cushion.

A statement wall light is always great - sometimes I question whether I’ll tire of something like that’s a bit ‘out there’, but almost always never do. I love this dolphin light from Villa Bologna Pottery, it comes in 4 colours but I’d probably go for the classic white.

I don’t usually love a very fussy or frilly lampshade, so these loose pleat ones from Imogen Pope tick a lot of boxes for me - simple, but interesting and bring all important texture to a room.

If a lampshade isn’t plain, I love a marble one. A great way to bring pattern to a room without it feeling too much. Rosie de Ruig has marble creations in so many colours, my favourite is this pink and red combo.

This Modernist French lamp looks like it could be from Ancient Rome, the faded pattern on the terracotta is so nice.

I’m such a sucker for a painting of the sea, it may be as I grew up near the coast and constantly miss it. This beautiful muted oil painting from The Beaux Store would look fab in a bathroom (artwork in bathrooms is the BEST!).

This textural forest scene from HueandHolasz is so up my street (I’m obsessed with oil paintings), and I love the colours in it.

Choosing Keeping stock the most amazing large silk screen prints, with options that would work in most colour schemes. I could see this earthy coloured one working well in my ochre yellow sitting room.

Another from The Beaux Store (too many good things to choose just one) - these little sardines are sooo cute to have popped on a stack of books or on a side table.

Candelabras are having a bit of a renaissance, and I thought this aluminium one was so cool, imagine a pair on the wall next to a bath.

And another from Choosing Keeping, a veritable treasure trove, I could probably do an entire article about their wares. This little pot caught my eye, would be a great addition to your desk.

These napkins from Alice Palmer are such a classic design, they’ll be the kind of thing you still have in 10 years.

You can never have too many storage baskets, especially when you have kids, and I love the chunky pattern on these from Rebecca Udall.

Oooof! And there we go. That was a bumper post, but I’ve had so many things to share that it felt like the perfect time to do so.
