I have been unable to review the relevant Times obituary before posting this profile, but will update the web version once I have managed to track it down.
Cecil O. Shipp was MI5 Security Liaison Officer in Washington DC in the early 1970s and Deputy Director-General (DDG) of the service from 1982 until around 1986. Regarded as a skilled interrogator, those he questioned included Anthony Blunt, the Cambridge spy who infiltrated MI5 for Soviet intelligence, and former MI6 chief Sir Maurice Oldfield.
