Hey everyone! The weekend is (nearly) upon us, and before July turns into August at the stroke of Midnight, we have a couple updates for you from the #TeamINSYM side. We give you a RINGO NOMINATIONS update, we get to talk TATSUMI #3, plus Steph has a new movie review for you to sink your teeth into! So, let’s get to it!
Earlier in the year, we asked you all to take a little time out of your day to consider nominating us for the 2026 RINGO AWARDS. Well, the final list of nominees is out and… none for us. While the possibility was remote at best for anything we do to crack into a nomination list dominated by bigger, mainstream entities, that doesn’t mean there isn’t a slight twinge of disappointment (because we truly believe our 2025 slate could stand up against anyone in the indie scene). Hey we’re human, right?
That being said, our overwhelming emotion is THANKFULNESS because we know so many of you took YOUR time to go and nominate us. THAT truly is what matters in the long run in our minds. Simply by seeing you all go to bat on our behalf means more than we can convey.
As for the overall nominations, while you can take a look at the full list here, we are STOKED to see so many people we know actually MAKE the list! Let’s highlight a few:
DAVID DASTMALCHIAN’S “Through” (Best Graphic Novel): Did you know that the star of Late Night With The Devil is also an accomplished comic writer? At Scaradise (April 2025) #TopHatMatt was able to host him for TWO panels: One specifically for movies, the other for his comics. This was a great interview, and he talked about how in his downtime during shoots is when most of his comics writing is done. Talk about making the most of every moment!
CTHULHU INVADES (and Orange Cone): Our friends over at Orange Cone got a nomination for their series Granite State Punk, and also one for a short story in CTHULHU INVADES FAIRY TALES! We’re super psyched that David Byrne and Elias ‘Gambit’ Melendez got their ‘Pied Piper’ short nominated… that rocks!
Does that name ‘Gambit’ sound familiar? It should because in our last Blog of Destiny we told you how our story for the next volume of CiFT was done, entitled ‘The Princess and the Plea’, drawn by none-other than… you guessed it… The Ringo-Nominated Gambit!
Will we submit titles for AWARDS consideration again? Of COURSE we will. You never know what might happen. As long as the awards show is legitimate and run with actual rules and integrity, we have no problem with participating… as long as we feel like our titles and offerings DESERVE that consideration. And being involved in the chase alongside you all was the most fun part of all!

Now onto some awesome #TeamINSYM news!
We are SUPER EXCITED to officially let you know that TATSUMI: THE SERPENT MISTRESS #3 is DONE. We intend on sending it off to the printers next week!
We can’t wait to get this issue into your hands! The story development, swerves and plot twists are at an all-time high in this one… until we get to issues #4 and #5 of course and blow those out of the water haha
We thank everyone that participated in this issue and also the merch production (Alessandro, Alan, Renan, Chess & Gwen, Efren, Sarah, Josh, Martin and Harrison, Rich, Kam, and Richard), as well the countless people that allowed us to participate in their live streams, did interviews with us, promoted us on their own time, etc… It’s a true team effort to go from a wild thought in our heads, to a finished issue, with worthwhile support merch to go along with it, and to spread that word about it! We thank you all!
And if you’re like DUDE I HAVE GOT TO GET IN ON THIS ISSUE! I DON’T WANT TO MISS OUT! You can always late pledge, but July 31st is the cut-off for many of the stretch goals and timely items. Anyone that late pledges AFTER July 31st will only get very limited stretch goals. (No metal cards, name won’t be in the Thank You list, etc…)
LATE PLEDGE TO TATSUMI #3 HERE(Launch scheduled for October 2026!)
In our next BLOG OF DESTINY we’ll give you an update on where we stand on the merch production.
#StephCannonWrites is back with a #TeamINSYM Exclusive for RETURN TO DEATH PARK. Sometimes these exclusives are ones we just pick on our own, others are brought to us by friends in the industry for consideration. This is one of those reviews!
