Welcome (back) to the Institute of Belonging, a newsletter for people who bring people together.

Friends,

Friends,

The first week of January is always my favourite time of the year.

My phone reminded me that this time last year I was getting ready for a breathtaking trip to Mexico with what I thought would be a small group of friends.

Friends,

Friends,

As I sit on a train to the coast, I think about how much of this year has been about rediscovering the beauty of a simpler life.

—”Attend, hush, listen.” I think those are the moments we really live for in art, the moment where the artfulness falls away, and all that is left is that thing we don’t have a better word for beyond poetry.
