Heather Ordover · In it for the Long Haul

My second episode, the Introduction has been released!

Because these captions come from a real text (instead of a simple transcription of whatever I’m yammering about) it takes a minute to get it right on screen. I’m sorry it’s not faster, but I think you have plenty to think about with each chunk.

This Week’s Gaslight Journal:

I took pix at our local CVS and McCaffrey’s (local-ish, upscale), and the only gas station in town. I haven’t decided which store(s) I’ll routinely track, but with the labeled pix, I thought I’ll be safe either way.

CVS

  • Whole Milk Half Gallon $4.99

  • Whole Milk Gallon $7.29

  • Doz Lg Grade A Eggs $5.99

  • GF Oreos (don’t judge me) $7.79

McCaffrey’s

  • Store Brand 1% Milk Half Gallon $2.75

  • Store Brand 2% Milk Half Gallon $2.85

  • Lactaid 1% & 2% Milk Half Gallon $4.79

  • Cage Free Doz Eggs & Land-o-Lakes Doz Eggs $4.99

  • Organic Cage Free Doz Eggs $6.49

  • Food for Life GF loaf of “brown” bread $8.99

  • Canyon Bakehouse GF loaf of Whole Grain bread $8.49

  • Broccoli - pre-cut $4.92/lb

  • Broccoli Crowns - fresh $2.49/lb

Another thing to keep track of on the Gaslighting front:

And a reminder of the importance of calm civility:

I’m not here to promote the insidious “white savior” cliché, but rather the importance of simple, honest, kindness. You can conversate about the other problems with the text, story, or author elsewhere.

Here I’d like to focus on not only Scout’s kindness, but also how important it is to do whatever we can to show mobs as individuals.

It’s why unions are powerful and individuals aren’t.

Here, the “union” of hate gets weakened by talking to an individual.

And if you’re a fan, you might like seeing Gregory Peck talk about shooting this movie:
