Why does Star Wars look the way it does?

Programming languages; the world runs on them.

We started with Assembly. Difficult to use. Limited.

1957 Fortran came out. It was a new type of language, a new invention. Without this invention we would not have any other of the language we know, C, C#, Java, Python, etc.

Without this invention, we wouldn’t have the luxury we live with today.

There wouldn’t never be AutoCAD, Photoshop, Matlab, etc. At least building those software in Assembly would be Apollo moon mission expensive (and buggy)

When Fortran came, this new invention was estimated to give 20x-50x productivity gain by IBM at the time. It gave us the modern society.

What would a world look like without this new invention?

It is like this galaxy far far away never discovered this invention.

It looks like everything is written in Assembly. The GUI is very rudimentary. There are physical buttons instead of computer screens with software button which is much more practical.

The real reason is of course that it was written in the 70s, but it is exactly how an Assembly like society would look. I think.

This invention has given us better technology because we can now design in computers, something that is impossible in an Assembly world.

Today, is what 20x-50x productivity gave us.

I am convinced that Plang gives us another 20x-50x productivity gain.

What will that give us?
