The aircraft carriers USS Saratoga (CV-3) and USS Lexington (CV-2) are seen here at the Fleet Anchorage off Diamond Head, Hawaii prior to Fleet Problem XIV in February 1933. The two carriers were laid down as battlecruisers but were converted into aircraft carriers to comply with terms of the Washington Naval Treaty of 1922.

Hasegawa Kawasaki Ki-45 Toryu “Nick” of the 53rd Sentai in 1/72 Scale
This model represents “White 40” of the 53rd Sentai Shimbu Tai formation which specialized in air-to-air ramming attacks against American B-29 Superfortresses. The Shimbu Tai aircraft were stripped of all guns and radio equipment to make them lighter and the opening for the defensive gun at the rear of the canopy was fared over.
