ImPact Canada, Corey Coates, Andrew Woodbury · ImPact Canada

When we first imagined ImPact Canada, we weren’t thinking about creating just another podcast. We were thinking about the stories of newcomers who arrive in Canada and, against all odds, start businesses that change not only their own lives but the lives of those around them.

This second episode of the ImPact Canada podcast is a little different. Instead of spotlighting a guest, we decided to turn the microphone on ourselves. We wanted to share why we’re doing this, why we’re launching this Substack, and what we hope it can mean for people who are carving out new lives and ventures in this country.

We talk openly about our own experiences as entrepreneurs and as newcomers. Both of us have lived in places where we had to start from scratch — learning new systems, building networks, and redefining what success looks like. Those experiences shape how we think about business today, and they’re at the core of what we’re trying to build with ImPact Canada.

In the conversation, we explore some big, sometimes uncomfortable questions:

  • When is enough, enough?

  • Is hustle culture the only way forward, or is it already outdated?

  • How do you grow a business without letting it consume your life?

These questions aren’t theoretical for us. They’re ones we’ve wrestled with personally, and they continue to come up in our daily lives. And we know we’re not alone. Many entrepreneurs, especially those starting over in a new country, feel the same tension between ambition and sustainability, between the need to prove yourself and the need to preserve yourself.

Launching this podcast alongside our Substack is about creating a space for those conversations to live. We believe that entrepreneurship isn’t just about scaling or chasing unicorn dreams. It’s about building something that matters, that supports your family, serves your community, and gives you purpose. For newcomers to Canada, that journey is even more profound.

Through ImPact Canada, we want to highlight voices that show resilience, adaptability, and creativity in the face of challenge. We want to amplify stories that inspire and instruct. And we want to connect people who might otherwise feel isolated in their entrepreneurial path.

This episode is an invitation. It’s an introduction to who we are, what we believe, and what you can expect from the conversations ahead. We’re building this platform not just to talk about business, but to talk about belonging. Because in our experience, the two are inseparable.

So, as you listen to this episode and explore our new Substack, we hope you’ll see yourself reflected here. Whether you’re a newcomer dreaming of your first venture or a seasoned entrepreneur rethinking what success means, this community is for you.

Welcome to ImPact Canada. Let’s build businesses. Let’s build belonging.
