The Sacred in Everything

When I was a young girl, a part of me longed to escape reality—to become like a sadhu in the mountains, dedicating my life to meditation. And for a time, I did. That kind of devotion came easily to me. But the deeper I went into meditation, the more I realized that the real challenge isn’t in retreating from the world—it’s in learning how to stay in meditation while fully engaging with life in this planet & our relationships. This is where spiritual practice becomes more than a practice; it becomes a way of being, giving us strength to meet the world as it is, with greater ease and grace. This for me is the dance of duality & why tantric spiritual lineages in particular became a focus for me, because they embraced it all.

The heavens are easy; this world is complicated. Life on Earth can be breathtakingly beautiful & deeply heartbreaking. The way things are structured may not be what we would choose, but when we recognize that God/dess is in everyone & everything, we see that there is no true escape—because there is nowhere that is not God/dess. So sometimes, all we can do is be present with what is, the complexity of the collective—seeing it, feeling it fully, holding compassion even when it’s painful. That, too, is love. At the same time, we hold a vision of what could be, & that is love as well. And beyond all of it, there is what already is—beyond comprehension—& that is love, too.

We are constantly holding the infinite & the personal, the collective & the unknown. It’s a lot to navigate, & we don’t always have to. We’re human. Sometimes, we need to unplug, live our lives, rest, & simply enjoy. But when we return, we tune in again—bringing our unique message & medicine back to the whole.
