The PDF edition of The Wilds of Shikoku is almost done. There will be two versions, a text-only one meant for printing, and another with the photographs and the maps, for reading on a screen. The former is done, the latter will be finished by next week, and they will be released together.
There will be a reading in Tokyo tomorrow evening, on 11/14 at 7pm, at the bar Good Heavens in Shimokitazawa, where co-editors Nora Selmeczi and Timothy Harris will join me to talk about the book. We will have copies for sale, for ¥5,000, and also a few copies of a special edition of 16, with an indigo-colored cover from Awagami Factory in Tokushima, for ¥10,000. Please come if you can! It’s free to all and there is no charge to enter, the only requirement being that you buy a drink. The address is:
5 Chome-32-5 Daizawa, Setagaya City, Tokyo 155-0032
The first review of the book was published recently in Metropolis, the English-language Tokyo magazine. According to editor-in-chief Paul McInnes, we have created “one of the most intriguing and beautifully produced psychogeographical books about Japan in recent memory”.
Update: Video from the Tokyo reading
Tim and I read the ending of the book together, trading off between Booth’s words and mine. It’s how the book was meant to be heard.
