I grabbed lunch this week with my pal Matt. It’s been damn hot out in KC, and on our walk back Matt said, “I’m excited for Fall.”

I said, “I’m excited for Fall clothes.”

And then I decided I wanted to talk about some I’m excited about… and other Fall things.

Alden Indys - My forever boots.

I’ve never gotten in so many online fights than on my YT channel over the video I made on these. I’ve had about 100 keyboard warriors who don’t own them tell me how terrible they are. I have a couple pairs of these. I wear the first pair more - they are fifteen years old, have seen the depths of hell, been on motorcycle trips from southern Mexico to Japan, resoled 3 times, and baby, they are good for another 15.

J.Crew Barn Jacket <- Man, I adore this thing. Mine is navy.

I think it quickly became my most-complimented jacket too.

Bean Mocs (my dog walkers) <- So useful I made a video on them
Double Denim - My Gitman Vintage Denim shirt is really breaking in and I’m gonna be rocking the hell out of it till it’s tattered.
Barbour Bedale <- Buy one. Wear it hard. Get it repaired (forever). It’s your duty as a man to die with the patchiest Barbour in the graveyard.
Oxfords <- I’ve always gone Gitman Vintage with my button ups, but I’ve officially hit the “nothing fits” point where I’m gonna try custom for a properly fitting shirt.
Sport coats/Blazers <- Love me a good scratchy wool sport coat.
Alden snuff tassle loafers - I wear these a lot. Might be my most comfortable shoes.
J.Crew 1988 Rollneck Sweater - It’s so good. Makes me feel like I'm in a Hugh Grant rom-com.

What I want: Alden Longwings

I’ve wanted a pair of these since Tumbler days. These with some jeans, an oxford, and a scratchy wool blazer. Come on.

I’d want them with a commando sole too.

I’m a cool weather scent guy. Spicy, tobacco, woody have been my thing ever since I was a kid. I like dark/sultry over fresh scents.

Santal 33 <- My signature scent, and I wear this year-round. It’s both rugged and complex. Perfect high/low scent.
BR540 Extrait <- I spray this more on my sheets than I do on me. Definitely a luxurious scent as you’d expect for the wild price. I love the powder of it.
Tobacco Vanille <- Oof. So good. This is what I’d wear for black tie. Works in snow too and is an ideal pick for thanksgiving. Spicy, dark, tobacco. It acts mysterious on the right person, which is a good vibe.
Gaiac 10 <- Le Labo’s Tokyo exclusive. A quiet fragrance. smoky wood. Santal 33 usually wins each day, but I’m gonna try to wear this a bit more.

Busting out my Weatherwool Blanket - These are almost always sold out. The full-weight Lynx medium/throw is currently for sale. That’s the one I have.

Cory (left) and I were in business together years ago. We came out even better friends. A rare thing.

You learn a lot about someone when they are under pressure.

Do they retreat?

Do they become selfish?

Or do they man up and handle shit.

Cory is that last one. A good dude through and through, and someone you’d hope to be in the trenches with… or just smoking stogies with on a random night.
