Dear friends,

I tried to write something longer and more explanatory, but the dots aren’t connecting today. It’s a mess in here! (Here=brain bucket)

Briefly, I got my 4th concussion a couple weeks ago. I hit my head on my large fast moving dog. The dog is fine. I love her very much. I’ve got a visit to the TBI Clinic in the calendar. I bought spiked snow boots so I can walk around the neighborhood without too much fear of falling. I’ve had to pause or sloooooow all of my client work because my brain is muddy and the computer screen hurts. Of the 4 of my concussions, the symptoms from this one are the worst by far. I’m feeling spooked and being very cautious.

I wasn’t sure I wanted to post anything about it since I don’t have the bandwidth to really process it, but I’ve been feeling a silly pressure to be present here and my hope is by sending this brief hello, I’ll be able to let go of that feeling for the time being.

AND, I’m hoping for some resources!

Have you listened to any podcasts or read any books lately that talk about:
–Illness (having or recovering from)
–Traumatic Brain Injuries
–Moving at a different pace (snail mode)
–Fear of the unknown!
–Any of the above in context of art-making, capitalism, etc.
–And no “manifesting wellness” magical-thinking type of hoopla

I’ve really enjoyed Katherine May’s Wintering, so thinking along those lines. Audio books/podcasts are good to take the strain off my eyes.

Words of encouragement and connection are also MUCH appreciated.

I’ll leave you with a few image snippets from Concussion-land. I don’t recommend extended time in a Walgreens post-head injury btw. Or maybe ever! And, I’ve discovered that GBBO is NOT concussion friendly, so much handheld camera and dramatic zooming! Watched the finale sideways through one eye. Loved Noel’s sweater though.

dang it…

(this is from Anne Lamott’s Bird by Bird)

If only I’d thought to open it… lord knows I could use some extra thoughts right now! ^

xoxo,
Sara
