Astrology has always been something I return to when I’m trying to understand where I am in a cycle of my life.

I started learning about it in my twenties and slowly incorporated bits and pieces over time. I remember having my chart done for the first time and feeling like someone had handed me a kind of map. Not something rigid or predictive, but something that helped explain parts of myself I hadn’t yet found language for.

Since then it has become more of a check-in than anything else. A way of stepping back and looking at the broader pattern of what I’m moving through and how it connects to who I am becoming.

I’m a Libra Sun with an Aries Moon and Scorpio rising, which probably explains why I’m often balancing two instincts at once — the desire for harmony and the impulse to move forward.

My first doorway into that world actually came from someone unexpected.

When I was twenty-one and working my first job at a PR agency, our bookkeeper Dante had a side passion for tarot. His name is Dante Sabatino and in New York he’s actually quite well known for his readings Tarot By Dante, but at the time he was simply someone in the office who read tarot.

I started sitting down with him every six months or so and quickly became a bit obsessed. Looking back, that was probably my first introduction to the idea that there are different ways of understanding the patterns of life. Astrology eventually became the system I returned to most often. Over the years I’ve met many brilliant astrologers and teachers, but one of the people who has remained a constant in my life is Rose Theodora.

Rose and I were introduced through mutual friends in 2018 when we collaborated on an event together. What began as a shared project gradually turned into a real friendship. Since then she has been someone who has quietly witnessed many of the chapters that followed — the pivots, the moments that didn’t go according to plan, and the stretches where I was simply figuring things out as I went. There are certain people who seem to understand the deeper arc of your life without needing much explanation. Rose has always been one of those people for me.

Recently we had a long conversation about a project she launched called Vestali, a studio practice built around sculptural ritual objects exploring cycles, symbolism, and cosmology. As we spoke about the project, the conversation naturally turned toward what has been unfolding in my own life over the past several years.

The last fifteen years of my life have almost felt like a kind of initiation process. There was no roadmap. Just experience layered on experience, slowly revealing what it was shaping along the way. At one point during our conversation Rose said something that stayed with me.

“You rarely understand the meaning of a cycle while you’re inside it. The clarity usually arrives afterward.”

That idea — of cycles revealing themselves only in retrospect — is something I’ve been thinking about a lot lately.

What Rose shared next about the current astrological moment reframed a lot for me about why the last few years have felt the way they have. She pointed to several astrological shifts happening at once — Pluto moving through Aquarius, Uranus preparing to change signs, and Jupiter entering a new cycle that will shape the next phase of growth.

Her explanation made something very clear. Periods that feel chaotic are often the exact moment when a cycle is about to turn. Below I’m sharing Rose’s perspective on the larger shifts happening right now — and what they suggest about the phase many of us are moving into next.
