I’ve been intentional with the books I read in each season, and something about spring always calls me back to reading in a different way. I find that I look for a certain energy, collective message, a specific kind of nourishment depending on where I am in life, in my heart, and curate a special book pile that takes up space during the seasons. And this season, my heart is being called to connect even deeper with the natural world, to discover new things about myself and my connection to it all, lessons, wisdom, and be curious about the ways in which nature can teach us about change, and the importance of unity and interconnectedness in our resistance work. A more relational, reciprocal, and intentional way of life.
Most of these books I’ve read, but lately, with the world caving in, I’ve found that rereading them has connected me more deeply to the words and their messages. They symbolize the vibration I am working with, learning to implement more of, and learning to be in relationship with. Collectively, I believe they are just the books you need at this time, in this season.
Reading is a sacred practice and ritual for me. I lean on it more when times are hard, or when I am moving through difficult things. They have a way of providing the medicine the heart seeks, words that can shift perspectives, lighten the weight, and act as a salve during these times.
Most of these writers are dear friends of mine, and their work aligns deeply with mine. Some are also mentors to me—guides and steadfast reminders of the work I am here to do, keeping me anchored, focused, and helping me show up with intention and purpose. It’s important that we keep connected to voices that reflect our values, beliefs, and aspirations—voices that challenge us, affirm us, and invite us to grow. The ones that remind us who we are when the world tries to pull us away from ourselves, and that help us return, again and again, to a more rooted, intentional way of being.
