Dear friend,
Today marks the Spring Equinox.
A day of balance.
Light and dark sharing the sky equally.
Neither one winning. Neither one gone.
I’ve always loved that about this day.
It doesn’t demand that we leap into the light.
It doesn’t rush us out of winter.
It simply says:
Both can exist here.
And maybe that’s exactly where you are too.
Part of you still tired.
Still tender.
Still carrying the weight of what this past season has asked of you.
And part of you…
quietly stirring.
Not loudly.
Not dramatically.
Just enough to notice.
I’ve been thinking about how nature moves through this threshold.
There is no urgency.
The trees don’t panic because they aren’t fully in bloom yet.
The soil doesn’t rush the seeds.
Everything unfolds in its own timing.
Slowly.
Steadily.
Surely.
And yet, something is happening beneath the surface.
Roots are strengthening.
Shoots are pushing upward.
Energy is returning.
Even when you can’t fully see it yet.
This is what renewal actually looks like.
Not a dramatic reinvention.
Not a complete overhaul of your life.
A quiet reawakening.
A soft return to yourself.
A willingness to believe that something new can grow from what felt like an ending.
If you’ve been in a long winter…
emotionally, physically, spiritually…
it can feel disorienting when the light begins to return.
Because here’s the truth no one really talks about:
Awakening can feel just as vulnerable as breaking.
Hope can feel risky.
Joy can feel unfamiliar.
Energy returning can feel almost… too much.
Especially if your body has been braced for a long time.
So instead of asking yourself:
“What should I do next?”
“What goals should I set?”
“How do I become the next version of me?”
Maybe the question is simpler.
What is gently asking to come alive?
Not what needs to be forced.
Not what looks impressive.
Not what would prove anything to anyone else.
Just…
What feels like a small, honest yes?
For me lately, it’s been subtle.
A desire to open the windows.
To linger outside a little longer.
To be more present with my son.
To move my body in ways that feel less like discipline and more like expression.
To choose light, not as an escape from darkness, but as a companion to it.
The Spring Equinox doesn’t ask us to leave winter behind completely.
It invites us to carry its wisdom forward.
To honor what we learned in the stillness.
To trust the parts of us that softened.
To move forward without abandoning the version of ourselves that made it through.
This is the threshold.
Not who you were.
Not fully who you’re becoming.
But the place where both meet.
And if you feel unsure here…
that makes sense.
Thresholds are not meant to feel certain.
They are meant to be felt.
So today, instead of rushing into renewal…
What if you stood at the edge of it?
What if you let yourself feel both the grief of what has passed
and the quiet hope of what is beginning?
What if you trusted that something is already growing…
even if it’s still beneath the surface?
You don’t need to bloom today.
You don’t need to have clarity.
You don’t need to become anything all at once.
You only need to notice:
The light is returning.
And so are you.
With you in gentle beginnings,
Adrian Hygge, FNP 🖤
P.S. If this season feels tender and hopeful at the same time, you’re not doing it wrong. That’s what it feels like to come back to life.
