Dearest Reader,

I’ve been catching some great live music lately and it’s getting me back in the zone for our upcoming June shows.

First I got to see my friends from Rhode Island NOVA ONE and now I’m fully obsessed with their latest record How to Kiss. At their show I fell in love with the song Steven, and now I’m singing it to myself everyday. Roz has a voice so pure it melts my heart.

Later on in the week I got to sing with my friend and one of my favorite songwriters Kevin Morby at the Metro. Kevin’s new record Little Wide Open is his best yet, and somehow we’ve known each other for what feels like multiple lifetimes. I first met Kevin in NYC when I was 20 and about to head to Europe to busk and backpack around for a couple of months. I was lugging my banjo with me everywhere and just started to write my own songs. He was fresh out of Kansas City and we nerded out on songwriting while listening to Bob Dylan. Seeing him shine on stage with his incredible band makes me teary eyed. He invited me to sing Bittersweet, TN one of my favorites of his last record. Video below from anchr magazine.

I am currently reading James by Percival Everett, a brilliant work that is much deserving of the Pulitzer Price and National Book Award.
