The Calling - Jessica Huie MBE · Jessica’s Substack

The idea being that when we create, if we release ourselves from attachment to specific outcomes (eyeballs, revenue, or the quick hit high of external validation), something shifts. When we let go of the agenda and make the process and act of creation itself the goal, starting a project purely for the joy of its unfolding, many of the internal barriers that prevent us from beginning at all, start to dissolve.

Along with them, the pressure around what success should look like, also begins to fall away.

When we do it purely for the love of it, we tap into a rhythm not ruled by performance, but by presence. We enter a frequency that is self-sustaining and needs nothing outside of itself to prove its value or validity, for within the vibrational alignment of love is EVERYTHING.

And through that shift, our creativity - and we, become free.

The irony? It’s often in that space of freedom where expression is untethered from outcome, that our work becomes most resonant. The deeper the connection to love in the act of creating, the more inevitable some form of “success” becomes. When we create from love, visibility and conventional success becomes a byproduct - not the point. The energy of our creation or launch extends beyond any ‘target’ audience. It becomes a holy homage to life itself, and man that’s a different ball game where life herself becomes our CEO.

We get to choose the game we play, and it all begins in our hearts.

Because authentic visibility isnt about being seen for the sake of it. Its about being of service through whats seen.

When our work is shared not to feed our identity, but to extend our truth, to offer something real, it has a magnetic, lasting power.

And yet, for the love of it is more than a nourishing approach to creativity or leadership. It’s a way of being. A compass we can bring to every moment of our lives - the mundane tasks, the difficult conversations, the hard choices.

We won’t always live up to our aspiration to bring love into every action or interaction.

But the commitment alone, to choose love over outcome, puts us in alignment with a different kind of power. One rooted in wholeness rather than validation, and places us consciously on the side of connection in a humanity which finds itself currently caught in deep struggle between oneness and separation.

So many of us are questioning ourselves as to what we can do at a time like this of such unrest in the world.

And yes, doing has an important role to play. But what matters far more than any action taken, is that our ‘showing up’ is not fuelled by an unconscious need to feel ourselves valuable so that it becomes performative, or even harmful.

In those moments where we might become aware that anything other than love is steering our boat, the most powerful thing we can do is turn our attention within, and reconnect to the innate value of who we are beyond what we do.

So that when we reemerge back into the world, ready to lead, create, or serve, we do so in the knowing our actions are purified of our own small self’s agenda.

Because when we do that, visibility becomes sacred and a form of advocacy in its own full right.

Not of our ego, but of our essence.

Like the bird that sings not to be heard, but simply because it has a song.

For the love of it.
