The problem of completed unsold condos and how to deal with it has been a big topic of discussion in recent months since the Governments of Canada and British Columbia made a surprise announcement that they would be partnering on a “Condo Conversion Partnership.”

Many details are still unknown — Minister of Housing Christine Boyle told The Realist in July that the Province is still ironing out details of the plan — and one key aspect that many will be watching for is who the Province will be buying from.

The Realist has since obtained a cache of data courtesy of Real Property Data, a real estate data platform founded in Vancouver by Darcy Rai, which includes unsold units broken down by municipality, construction type, and building as of Q2 2026. The Realist then matched the buildings to developers, and will be publishing the numbers over the next few weeks.

Last week, we did Vancouver1 then Richmond and the North Shore. Today: Burnaby and New Westminster.

According to Real Property Data, Burnaby is home to 1,208 completed unsold homes — more than any other municipality in British Columbia. That total includes 21 townhouse units, 7 stacked townhouse units, and 1,180 condo units across 16 concrete buildings by 10 developers. (There are zero unsold units in woodframe buildings.)

Meanwhile, New Westminster is home to 224 completed unsold homes, split between 78 condo units in woodframe buildings and 146 units in concrete buildings — a total of 5 buildings by 4 developers.

Below is a full breakdown of unsold condos, by developer and building. Keep in mind that how long the standing inventory has been sitting can vary from building to building. Some projects may have been completed over a year ago and others just a few months ago.

The Developers: Anthem Properties, Beedie, Bosa Properties, Imani Development, Keltic, Ledingham McAllister, Onni Group, Qualex-Landmark, SHAPE, Thind, Aragon Properties, Areva Living, Bosa Development, Skyllen Pacific.
