From someone that dislikes card games: Amazing card based roguelike game. It gave me the creeps at first and overall had some genuinely scary moments. The visuals are superb, the gameplay is fun and addictive, and I had no idea the game was going to turn out how it did, but I’m glad it did because it surprised me in a good way.

I went to the Festa Junina organized by the students of one school I work with. Had a great time and ate good steak! It was also kinda cool and nice to see and interact with some students outside of school on a less formal place.
How to delete ghost iCloud folders on ~/Library/Mobile Documents
I’m kinda obsessed with having a clean, well-organized OS. I periodically go through all my user directory folders and inspect them one by one, deleting unused/unwanted folders and files across the whole thing. I probably run mole clean at least once a day. In the macOS filesystem, ~/Library/Mobile Documents is kind of a special folder: a “virtualized system mount point” that only exists when the…
The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom
Cute, charming, but most importantly, a very clever game! I really enjoyed the echo gimmick and how this game (like other recent Zelda series games) allows for maximum creativity when solving puzzles. Playing with Zelda (hence being an actual legend of Zelda) is quite refreshing too.
Youth
The Hand of God, by Paolo Sorrentino, this movie’s director, is one of my all time favorite movies. While thinking about it a lot this week, I decided to watch another one of his movies, and watched Youth. To my surprise, both movies use Maradona as means to convey context and plot, which is both curious and amazing. This is one of those movies that have just the right amount of dialogue, pacing,…
Obsession
Really solid acting from both main characters, standing as the pillars for the whole thing. I did not like some abrupt cuts and it looks too dark for too much time sometimes, but apart from that, this is one of the best horror movies of recent following a simple, easy to follow premise that is both quite mysterious and open.

We had a Festa Junina , my favorite holiday, with our neighbours today. Everyone brought some food, and I made a Bobó de frango.
Tuner
This is the most “non-superhero movie superhero movie” that I have ever seen. It is also a romance movie, and a drama movie, and a lot of things in between. Got really surprised with this one. Should please most people.

We went to a friend’s house to watch Brazil x Scotland.
Birth/Rebirth
I was expecting more, and I felt it could’ve been scarier and explored the child’s rebirth more. Otherwise, a solid one that is guaranteed to make you feel uncomfortable.

Today was Brazil’s games against Haiti, so we reunited with our neighbours and watched the game while also celebrating the birthday of one of them. Happy with Brazil’s result, but not too hopeful yet about the whole thing.
Widow's Bay
Perfect. The best show in a very long time. Feels like it was made for me.

We went to my wife’s sister house to celebrate her birthday, with an emo theme - while also watching Brazil x Morocco. The game was disappointing, but the party was cool.

Yesterday my wife and I went to one of my best friends’ house to have dinner and talk. I could eat a charcuterie board every single day of my life, forever.

Today I discovered that Orbstack now can pass USB devices through to Linux machines , and I immediatly had a great use case for it! For newer kindles, you have to install the “Kindle for Mac” application to transfer files from macOS to kindle, while for linux distros this can be done via usb connection easily. so I created an ubuntu VM that I can use to move files from my mac (which are mounted…
Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door
The Sheep Detectives
Superb on everything, made me laugh almost every 5 minutes the entire movie while also making me hold myself not to cry constantly. I want a sheep now.

My wife and I attended our neighbour’s birthday party, with a lot of Caldo Verde and toasts with various pâtés. Yesterday’s second day of the Jazz & Blues festival was very good! Even though I’m still bad in the throat and it was extremely cold (15ºC where I live is like being in the south pole) and my allergy kicked in mid festival, I had a great time and both Larkin Poe and Bixiga 70 were…

I took the last two days to learn the Gleam Programming Language in my spare time. I rewrote my personal, fastfetch alternative named binfo with it. It was made with TypeScript via bun and compiled as a single file executable, and now I use the gleam export escript command to create a single beam executable, needing only Erlang on the machine to run it. I liked the language! Coming from working…

Got really sick with a sore throat these last couple days, so I’ve been mostly mute for the last 24ish hours. Looks like every editor nowadays is migrating from a file tree view to a more “agent-centric” approach, which I hate. I have no beef with agents, I’ve been running some locally and they have been quite useful, but the new UI/UX is not for me. The Rio das Ostras Jazz & Blues Festival where…
Hokum
Good but not good enough to actually scare me or make me feel immersed into it.
Synecdoche, New York
Powerful, depressive, yet with a lot of hope and charm. This movie and all of its uniqueness would never have been made in 2026.
Buffet Infinity
So creative! Really cool concept, and not boring/repetitive at all. There’s probably much more to this movie than I picked because of its fast pace and small details lore between commercials. One of the few movies I’m down to watch a second time for the world building.
White Lotus
Kinda mid, but enjoyable. No superb scenes/acting/plot in general, but it is a well made show with a consistency across the episodes.
Faces of Death
Fun, gory and great acting! This is one of the good gnarly/campy movies of this genre.

Last night we went out to celebrate Arsenal’s Premier League title after 22 years of waiting. Today the climate was rather gloomy, but I can’t seem to take the smile off of my face. Watched The Boys finale, and this week’s episode of Widow’s Bay .

After a busy week with both mine and my wife’s birthday, finally some weekend rest playing video games and sleeping with the cats. Still lots of stuff to do in my TODO.md, but at least I can do them in my own pace.
Project Hail Mary
Very good! Nailed everything. Not really much to say about the movie itself. It kinda reminded me of the Children series, and in a very good way.

Been doing so many things I had no time to write logs. Last week as a whole was one of the most programming-intensive ones of my year, but it paid off when things went well for one of my clients using an application I built for them. At least this coming week will be calmer, I think…

I like to use things that respect the “ Don’t clutter my $HOME ” philosophy. The only application that I use daily that breaks this rule and does not follow my XDG config is VSCode , with both .vscode and now a newly introduced .vscode-shared folder. That plus the problem in the integrated terminal that scrambles the output has made me finally try other editors after 8 years of using it. So today…

Being a software developer who mostly reads from software developers that develop software for other software developers, I feel like little is said about how hard it is to create software for non-software developers when almost all software you yourself use is software software developers developed for software developers. (Read that again)

Continuing my quest of replacing tools/apps I use with personal versions tailored specifically for me and me only, this weekend I built three new tools to replace shortcat , jankyborders and zoxide , named shorts, contour and zoink, respectively. Both the shorts and contour ones are single-file Swift programs compiled with swiftc into a single executable, with shorts starting at login via launchd…

Yesterday I went to a Torresmo festival. It was delicious, and I had the luck of being able to attend it with my family, which I don’t see very often.
Resurrection
This is cinema (literally).
The Blackcoat's Daughter
Most people won’t like it because of its slow pacing and somber theme, but I think that these were its strengths and the reason I liked it.

After helping my wife break a padlock on a garage door and accidentally finding myself at a motorcycle and rock event with my mother and grandmother over the weekend, another week begins. The second class of the programming course happened today, and I taught some basic types such as strings, numbers, booleans, etc. I bought a case and screen protector for my Innioasis Y1 , and I’m excited for it…
Firewatch
I expected a beautiful, calm game about loss and grief and got a beautiful, tense plot-twisty horror game about loss and grief. Got me so hooked up I played in a single night. Amazing!
