henri vessar at 7’2 can pass, dribble, and shoot. Starts from outside: for a big, vessar has really smooth mechanics. He follows through, flicking his wrist, has great touch, and even if the shot isn’t as fast, it dosen’t really matter since he’s so tall and has a high release point. He can pick and pop, spot up in the corner, and hit trail 3s jogging behind ball handlers. Veesaar drilled 42.6 percent of his 94 3-point attempts this year, nearly all of which came off the catch. Drilled 19 spot-up 3s, hit eight as a trailer in transition and also hit 11 pick-and-pop 3s. In the PnR, vessar knows how to find space as a roller and open up his hips to recieve the pass. Has excellent timing in this area, great footwork, can go off either foot. He catches the ball high, keeps it high, and has the size to finish in a straight line. He can use both hands at the basket. Defenders can’t leave him alone here.

Gets the ball up quickly. Finished 75.9 percent clip in half-court settings, per Synergy. He can go off either shoulder for post hooks, with either hand. Dosen’t really get anywhere with his dribble, but he can run dribble handoffs from the perimeter, and attack closeouts to finish or hit a pass. Functional handle. He also made some floaters this year, albeit with his right hand. Vessaar is also a decent passer. He can throw post entries, whip passes to open shooters on drives, and had nice lob throwing chemistry with caleb. They would run inverted PnR, and vesaar throws it up to caleb off one dribble. Connecting passes for one more shooter. For someone who struggles with strength everywhere, and isn’t a good athlete, vessar protected the rim, was solid with that 9’3 stading reach. He aims for the ball, going straight up vertically, sheer size alters shots around the basket. Vessaar’s lack of athleticism and strength bothers him as a finisher and defender, but he did some good work here. Decent timing to contest shots.

Vessaar isn’t switchable. In drop coverage, pull up shooters can shoot in his area since he isn’t that aggressive. He can keep the guard and big in between him, but that’s about it. Because he lacks strength, he struggles to defend the post. Bigger players can get physical with him and bump him off of his spot. Can fall for pump fakes and get sealed early in the clock. He also struggles against any guard, they all blow by him, opens up too far and his top foot gets attacked. Can’t flip his hips, a little stiff, and hesistations and shot fakes get him in the air. On offense, he isn’t fast up the court, and lacks vertical explosion in traffic. Much better off two feet than one. The minute he’s out of position, he can’t recover. Bigger wings can get into his chest and move him back too. On the roll, if he dosen’t have a runway, it can be tough to finish. When he gets tagged physically, can he still convert at the rim? maybe not as effective. While he was a good rebounder, stronger players can get under him and pin him under the basket to solidify their position.
