Hi guys, I have been fulfilling my obligations to other outlets and a little short on time for a piece here. So in lieu of an essay, I want to pass on some other good stuff.

First up, Jose Melendez (Dan Kobayashi) has written a beautiful piece about being a Jewish dad watching his kids get baptized as Christian. I absolutely loved this essay.

Next, my friend and former colleague Julia Curlee is a bonafide Fancy Person with a piece in The Atlantic about being a trans intelligence officer in the Trump White House (twice!) She ultimately had to leave the CIA. She is a truly great American whom I’m honored to know. And a damn good writer, whew. And look for the two of us on a Substack Live, coming soon. Everyone wants to talk to Julia these days, but let her use my karaoke machine the other night so I’m cashing in a favor!

Next is my latest Axis Daily Brief video on the new, not improved, foreign aid program.

Next, a little update on my project emailing evangelical churches about the end of TPS. I am up to about 60 now, and mostly haven’t gotten any responses. Two have said they will get back to me. A few have said they do not wish to comment. Some have unfortunately added me to their mailing lists and are now bombarding me with mail. One invites me to “Tell us about your interests” and goes on to say:

As a pastor and evangelist, I love to help people draw closer to Jesus. It’s my passion and privilege to strengthen and encourage people in the faith.

And that means I want to minister to YOU, Holly.

To do that in the best possible way, I’m hoping you can tell us a little about how [we] can best serve you.

Of course, I have already told them about my interests, which basically boil down to not living in a christo-fascist country where non-white refugees are treated like sh*t by a government elected by Very Good Christians with refugee ministries.

They have a survey I can take, and I think I must do that.

Lastly, I haven’t mentioned it in a minute, but I will be at the Wild Goose Festival in North Carolina over Labor Day weekend. Friends, I will be doing stand-up comedy (as well as an art session). Pray for me. I told Jonathan V. Last I would be doing this and his response was basically, “That is very hard. You’re probably going to fail.” LOL
