The thing about the ability to freely express is that it doesn’t come without some method of discernment and structure.

Language as a whole is a system of reduction – taking an amorphous felt sense or a wide view of a lived moment in time and funneling in through the appropriate words, characters, colors, textures, shapes, phrases, and symbols to effectively transmit it in a way that makes our experience somehow make sense, to ourselves and others.

No matter what is coming out of us (music, writing, paintings, recipes) and no matter the vehicle (ink, soil, herbs, words) there is a systematic pathway from internalization to externalization that requires some kind of structure to support the cycle of creation.

Without the clarity of form we have disillusionment, which means at a certain point to freedom of expression can become a trap of misunderstanding and confusion.

Sense and structure go hand in hand.

When I think about the transition from the Taurus to Gemini archetype, I think particularly about these structures that support our expression and shared understanding.

Taurus governs the throat, the neck, and cervical vertebrae, and Gemini rules the shoulders, arms, lungs, and hands. These two in tandem with one another dictate how we’re able to physically express, build, create, and share whatever it is that needs to come out of us – whatever is inside of us that we’ve internalized that begs to be distributed through some kind of creation for others.

As we step into this particular May, there a few unique cosmic arrangements that will be asking us to review what we internalize and consume, and how we take those things and reconfigure them through the systems of our own bodies, minds, and energies to be authentically integrated and externally shared.

We might find that there are certain aspects of this life that are too difficult to swallow, but we’re required to find a way to if we’re ever going to create something with our voice that truly resonates.

For this month’s practices, I’m offering indirect ways to do this kind of work – to be able to energetically digest and unconsciously synthesize (with an activity that sparks joy in the process) and to intentionally stretch ourselves into territory that brings us a little out of our comfort zones:

An invitation – Trusted Timing

Trusted Timing is an astrological partnership for creatives who want to strategize their goals, output and life direction with astrology.

I designed this offering to help you build your life in rhythm with your chart – aligning your ambitions and desires with cosmic timing, so you can move with clarity instead of confusion.

It’s specifically for those who’re tired of pushing, guessing, and overextending, and want to understand when to act, when to refine, and when to rest in accordance with their energy and the energy of the moment.

Despite many of us knowing time is a construct, it still dictates and runs so much of our lives via stress, anxiety, or fear. But time is malleable, and our relationship to it is flexible – when you shift how you respond to time, you create more freedom, confidence, and appreciation for how you move through and with it.

Cultivate the freedom to move through your time with ease and authority - with the support of the cosmos.

May opens with a Scorpio Full Moon that might bring up physical and/or emotional discomfort.

A Full Moon is a culminating moment that sheds light on something that has reached it’s peak. In your personal life, it could look like something that was initiated at the Scorpio New Moon (November 20, 2025) coming to completion or a point of release. Think back to what you were beginning during that time, and reflect on what’s being formalized around now, May 1st.

Additionally, because the moon is considered to be in it’s fall in Scorpio, and Scorpio is the sign that brings to the surface things that need to be cleared and alchemized, there is a quality of extraction, penetrative release, or forced transforming of the parts of ourselves (or life) that might be challenging for us to acknowledge. We might have to turn and face parts of ourselves, or of reality, that we don’t really want to see. And since the moon rules our body and emotions, all of this can bring instability or a sense of disequilibrium to our somatic experience.

Hence why my somatic recommendation for this month, is to dance.

I don’t think this requires much explaining – I think we all know that dancing isn’t just a fun activity. It’s an energetic release and a way to recalibrate our mind and body. It’s also fantastic for our adrenals, lymphatic system, nervous system, confidence, and so much more.

My suggestion is to spend a little time with the volume turned up on some of your favorite songs, and moving like no one (or everyone, depending on your preference) is watching.

Similarly, you could gather a few friends and go out dancing together, you could create a weekly dancing ritual, or you could grab your partner and have a dance party at home together.

Whatever you choose – let it be at least a few fun songs long, let all your bones and joints join the party, and move in whatever way feels most cathartic.

(and be sure to drink a big glass of water after!)

For a good portion of this month we have a collection of planetary placements that speak to us having the soft and nourishing support to move forward, and/or to heal something heavy we’ve been carrying.

The way I see this arrangement is that – whatever difficult thing you’ve been wanting or knowing you need to do, this month you not only have the boost of energy to be able to do the thing, but you also have a soft landing pad underneath you for after you do it.

It can be really frightening to step outside our comfort zone – from little ways (trying the difficult new recipe) to big ways (reaching out to your crush or applying for the new job) – so to know that there’s a cosmic set up that’s saying, “go on, you can do it – and when you’re done I’ll be here to hug and celebrate you!” can be really reassuring.

(The cosmic set up is Venus and Jupiter in Cancer by the way!)

So this month, my recommendation for the creative practice is to choose just one stretchy, challenging, or scary thing that you’ve been wanting or needing to do, and create a simple game plan to do it.

My suggested dates are May 18-20th as Venus, the Moon and Jupiter will all be in Cancer, but you can pick any day from the middle of the month onward.

Here’s a few examples of what that stretchy thing could look like:

  • Invite your neighbors over for a happy hour

  • Go to the pilates class you’ve been nervous to try

  • Mix together a few paint colors and play with brushing them on a canvas

  • Take yourself out on a solo date

  • Ask someone out on a date

  • Pitch yourself for an interview for the podcast you love

  • Create a step-by-step plan for asking for a raise

  • Launch the offering you’ve been nervous about sharing

  • Start writing the memoir

Once you choose the thing you want to do, then choose how you’ll celebrate and support yourself after you do it.

This soft landing of celebration could look like:

  • Treat yourself to a long bath using your favorite soaps and candles

  • Splurge on a delicious meal

  • Go out dancing (see part 01 above)

  • Schedule catch up call with your best friend for an undetermined about of time

  • Have a spa day at home

  • Let yourself lay in the grass for an hour doing nothing

  • Take an afternoon off

The idea here is that you titrate the experience – you move just outside your boundary of comfort, and then let yourself land somewhere soft and supportive afterwards.

Notice how it feels to do this, and notice how you support yourself in the process.
