Content style guides that are written for every audience (because government’s audience tends to be all of its citizens), or have some universal application because they’re written for no particular organisation or audience:
- GOV.UK
- several other governments’ style guides
- Readability guidelines
- National Center on Disability and Journalism’s Disability language guide - this and the Diversity and Conscious guides below have an emphasis on diversity, inclusivity, disability or marginalised groups
- Diversity style guide
- Conscious
Some company content guides - these are written for a particular organisation and its users/audience:
- Monzo and “every person who joins Monzo — no matter how senior they are or which area of the business they’re joining — completes writing training in their first two weeks”
- Mailchimp
- Slack
- Shopify
- Intuit
- Microsoft
- Co-op Group
- Apple
- BBC
Also useful:
- Content Design London’s advice
- Working in content’s guides
- and I find Klinkenborg essential
Caveat: I haven’t read most of these company style guides yet.
