Chapter Thirty-Two
As wonderful as the evening with Cooper had been, the rest of the week proved to be business as usual. Well … mostly. His morning mail deliveries were often punctuated by a kiss, and they kept up a running text conversation that was mostly just flirting. It was all somehow new and exciting while fitting perfectly into her regular routine. Riese definitely caught herself smiling a lot more, sometimes without even knowing particularly why.
On Saturday he brought her the promised chicken nuggets and even stayed for a glass of wine through one of their slow periods, hanging out around the bar and listening to her stories about some of the clientele she’d entertained that week. Sunday he took both her and Syrah out to breakfast at the local diner. Syrah mostly just scraped the berries and whipped cream off the top of her pancakes and left the actual “cake” part on the plate, but Riese let it slide.
