This Might Just Be the Most Underrated Use of AI

It’s well understood that, thanks to tools like Wispr Flow, the average person can talk about four times faster than they can type.

And it’s been amazing to see just how much people love tools like this one.

Users are raving about how fast they’re getting through their email inboxes, text messages, and Slack questions just by switching to push-to-talk.

But there’s another level of voice productivity that I think many people are missing: long-form transcription.

The problem with a tool like Wispr Flow is that it still requires human discipline.

You’re sitting at a computer, going email by email, needing to read, respond, and move on to the next one…

And in 2026, it’s very tempting to distract yourself, flip over to the news, sports scores, etc.

What AI now allows, because the transcription technology is so good, is the ability to talk for long stretches of time and then have AI format these long blocks into meaningful, organized pieces.

Here’s what this looks like practically with your inbox.

Instead of going line by line, one email at a time…

You can go to the park, start reading your inbox, and draft your responses while recording into an Apple Voice Memo.

Once you have the memo, drop it into Claude or ChatGPT…either can perfectly clean it up. And with an MCP connection, these tools can even upload drafts right back into your email.

Similar workflows could obviously be set up for other tools.

The point is, you’re not only outsourcing the writing to AI. You’re actually getting a discipline boost that otherwise wouldn’t be possible.

Because the bottleneck was never your typing speed. It was the desk.

Many of our sharpest thinking rarely happens while we’re hunched over a screen, fighting the urge to click open one more tab.

Instead, it happens when we’re moving…

On a walk. In the car. Even pacing our office between meetings.

So if you want to try it this week, keep it simple:

Pick one task you’ve been putting off… then go for a walk and just talk it through.

I know there’s plenty of talk about the “accuracy” of these tools…don’t worry about being polished.

Get the raw thinking out, drop it into Claude/ChatGPT/Copilot, and let AI shape the mess into something clean.

I think you’ll be surprised how well this works.
