May 2026 - Some Time Off

Howdy, friends!

This month’s newsletter’s gonna be a little short because we spent May resting and relaxing. (Very untrue, there was neither rest nor relaxation, but we did take most of May off from any Hijinx & Sue activities.)

After presenting our staged reading a month ago, we decided to wait four whole weeks before touching any feedback. This was definitely the right decision, because our brains needed a little distance from the reading before diving in.

Thank you SO MUCH to everyone who left us feedback either on our physical or digital forms - you have no idea how helpful your thoughts and suggestions are.

After combing through all of the feedback, we brainstormed some really exciting changes that we think will make the story even stronger. It’s going to be a long road to complete these revisions - luckily we love what we do (lord knows we’re not doing it for the money lol)

Another exciting end of May treat - we attended the Seattle Cabaret Festival and watched Cassi Q Kohl perform a HELL of a set, which ended with an absolutely earthshaking rendition of “Someone to Someone.”

Not gonna lie - it’s incredibly gratifying to start watching the music from our show begin to leak out into performances across cabarets and open mics. Writing is fun, but its not why we do what we do. We write to connect with others through storytelling and performance. So yeah, it’s very gratifying and we have an endless and undying love for the talented people who are excited to bring our songs to life.

• June 17th - Summer Asian Artsfest Open Mic Night

  • Daniel will be performing work from his BRAND NEW song cycle in-progress, Songs for a Sick Mind.

• June 20th - Summer Asian Artsfest Cabaret Night

  • The incredibly talented Rhys Daly will be performing “Strap In, Bitch”

  • We won’t be there :( (Because we’ll be on a plane to Portland, Maine for our writing residency)

Both events will be at Theatre Off Jackson, as part of Pork Filled Productions’ Summer Asian Artsfest! All tickets are pay what you can.

As teased above, June is the month that we fly to Maine for our Drama Club Camp Residency! We’ve been over the moon about this opportunity for the last five months, and we cannot wait to report our experience back to you.
