I'm tired of the AI Embracer vs. AI Resister dichotomy.
It's just not that accurate.
For example, in the most recent episode of the EdUp AI Podcast, I talked to Melanie Dusseau.
She's an AI Resister. She pushes against the use of AI, especially in her Creative Writing classes.
When she published her Inside Higher Ed article, "Burn It Down: A License for AI Resistance," she received messages about how she was hurting her students. She also received messages from others who wanted to join the "Lamplighters" in resisting Gen-AI.
On the other hand, I am an AI Embracer (I guess?).
So ... what happens when we hop on a call and talk about AI?
For one, we realize how similar our attitudes and approaches are.
Despite our differences, there are striking similarities in how we talk about AI, how we approach it in our courses, and how we talk to our students about it.
