One of my favorite things to sew during Covid was dog stockings. These were full size fabric (not needlepoint) stockings and my friends were always enthusiastic recipients. I’m applying those same skills to my most recent needlepoint finishes - needlepoint mini stockings or socks with an open top. There are so many stockings on the market, but I particularly love Kathy Schenkel’s (she refers to them as mini socks) as they come with a stuffed item that is meant to be placed in the open top of the finish. I’ve stitched one each for the places I’ve lived and have one for my university in my stash. Creating this finish is surprisingly simple. To help you recreate this finish, I’m sharing a step-by-step tutorial of how I created this beanie ornament in the post below.
Note: This step by step tutorial uses photos to demonstrate each step. The tutorial assumes that the finisher has already mastered basic sewing and finishing techniques like creating cording and affixing cording.
