On June 13th, it had officially been one year since I sold Pepper.
A whole year. Because... how??!
At the time, I thought I was selling a business. Looking back now, I think I was letting go of an identity, even though I couldn’t see it then. I thought Europe was just a trip. I thought navigating a separation most people wouldn’t understand was just its own chapter. I thought buying a house would simply mean a new address. I thought writing a book was just another project.
Now I can see they were all connected. And can we say “Hellooooo, fire horse season?!!” lol
And every single one of those moments was asking the same question…Stace, whose life are you actually living here? Do you like the experiences you’re having in life?
Not in a dramatic, burn-it-all-down kind of way. In a real, uncomfortable, and honest kind of way.
As painful as it is to look at, I can tell you that most of us aren’t living lives we consciously chose. We’re living lives we slowly inherited.
We’re handed ideas about what success looks like, what a good career is, how much money is enough, how visible we need to be, how busy we should stay, what our business should become. And before we know it, we’re chasing goals we’ve never stopped to question. Not because they’re wrong. But because they might not actually be ours.
That realization has changed everything for me, and it’s changed the conversations I have with the women I work with too.
Because once you know what’s actually true for you, something shifts. The decisions get clearer. The marketing gets easier. The money feels less tangled. The boundaries stop being up for debate. Life starts to feel like yours again.
That’s really what all of my work has become about, whether we’re talking about business, money, confidence, visibility, or simply figuring out what’s next. It almost always comes back to the same thing: learning to trust yourself. Not because someone gave you permission, but because you finally gave it to yourself… ’cause you’re a badass.
