Hey friends —
As winter’s darkness looms, I’m maintaining my zest for life with poli ed, coffees with old civic tech friends, and DSA/Zohran events. My friends and I even got flash tattoos of a pigeon at the field lead party. (My first! Sorry, Mom!)
Sarah Paulson in defense of pigeons: A beautiful woman with an excellent point — what more can I say?
Lina Khan interviewed Cory Doctorow for his Enshittification book tour: This fits my current fixation on critiques of consumerism as a political identity. I also keep thinking about something Cory said about tech workers: “And it is a great irony and paradox of labor power that workers who are powerful and therefore treated well because of the historically contingent circumstances don’t think they need a union. And really, the time to form a union is when you’re powerful, right? … Tech bosses have shown us how they treat workers they’re not afraid of… The minute Jeff Bezos can put a piss jar next to your workstation, he will, right?”
How Democratic Socialism Won in New York City, The Brian Lehrer Show: Guests Micah Uetricht and Susan Kang skillfully responded to some frustrating but common talking points about socialism, Zohran, and DSA in NYC. Even when I’m familiar with the content, I find shows like this instructional for how to clearly and succinctly stay on message.
The Trump Tariff Order and the Future of U.S. Influence w/ Nicholas Mulder, American Prestige: This is a helpful overview of the status of tariffs and the President’s focus on taxing goods while leaving finance untouched.
I shot these photos over the last couple weeks with my grandparents’ Nikon L35AF on CineStill 800T film. I love this camera, she was designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro, who also designed the DeLorean and Ferraris.
Let me know what you like and what you’re looking for!
