Unfortunately, but not unsurprisingly, our Ummah has reached this point in time where hadiths, preserved sayings, actions, and teachings of our beloved Prophet ﷺ, are being treated with suspicion.

Especially by Muslim women.

And, well, it’s not difficult to understand why.

Because today, authentic hadiths about women's shortcomings, women's responsibilities, or women's punishments are being constantly clipped out of context and weaponized online.

And then a portion of immature Muslim men throw these narrations around as if they’re “winning” an argument or “putting women in their place.”

When that’s all a Muslim woman sees, it’s easy to start thinking, “Why does every hadith seem to be about women? Why do they all sound so harsh? What about men?”

Well, sis, if that sounds like you, I am here to help you restore your faith in hadiths again.

I will share 5 hadiths about men that every Muslim woman should know—not because they encourage us to hate men, but because they remind us that the Prophet ﷺ was fair to both genders.

These are the strongest warnings + actions from the Prophet ﷺ that were directed toward men: and specifically, all of them are centered around their treatment of women!

Yes, these are ALL authentic hadiths from the Prophet ﷺ.

But sis…you probably never heard of them, have you?

And that is exactly why seeking knowledge matters.

So let’s change that today.

I want to share what I have learned while seeking knowledge of our beautiful deen 🤍.

3 important reminders before we dive in:

1. I am not a scholar, nor am I presenting my own rulings or interpretations of these hadiths. I found these hadiths purely through reading Islamic books and going to reputable islamic sites. These narrations are already self-explanatory anyway—and that in itself is another blessing of the Sunnah.

2. As Muslim women who want to be our best selves, we need to approach these narrations with the same humility that we want from the other side. Let’s not become like those immature Muslim men. We cannot criticize those who weaponize hadiths against women, only to turn around and decide to weaponize these hadiths against men. The Sunnah is not meant create a battle between men and women. Every hadith, whether catering to men or women, is only there to teach us of our flaws and to remind us how to be better.

3. “Verily, the most evil of people in the presence of Allah on the Day of Resurrection is a man who was intimate with his wife and then spreads her secrets.” {Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim 1437}
