My Dad felt like the luckiest guy alive with the amount of people that rallied around him to show how much he ment to them and to offer their support. There was people flying in from Texas, Tennessee, driving from San Jose, LA, people from our town, etc. just to show their love and support and to make sure they could see my dad one more time before he passed. Those moments were so special to not just my dad but to me and my mom as well. Being able to see my dad reminisce old memories with friends, being able to see the joy on his face before, during, and after these friends would come over was incredibly heart warming. When my dad first started Hospice he was filled with anxiety, making it hard to be able to see people and feel accomplished because all he could do was just lay in bed. Finally one day my dad’s dear friend Steven Chaudry (as some of you may know of) came over to visit my dad and have my dad sign his book. After he left my dad felt uplifted by his visit. That’s when he decided he wanted to start having friends come over to visit and felt more comfortable with the idea of it. Another key thing that helped my dad a lot was a wheel chair that hospice had provided him. Before the wheel chair was given, the reason he was only able to lay in bed was because there wasn’t a chair comfortable enough for him to sit in, when the wheel chair finally came he was able to sit up a lot more which made it easier to have visits. He was able to see college friends, old work friends, family friends, some old childhood friends from New York, and friends who he’s met taking his daily walks around the neighborhood, meeting people from just sparking up random conversations that filled them with a more positive and uplifting outlook on life.
Thank you to everyone who came to see my dad before he took his last breath. You will never know how much that ment to him and how it made his last days so much easier.
Down Below are pictures of just the few people that came to visit my dad.
The day my dad passed away was the day I felt a deep emptiness in my heart. Not only did me and my family feel this but, the amount of lucky people impacted by him did as well. Now even though the loss of my dad was of course heartbreaking, my dad wouldn’t want us to stop living are lives as usual. That was his moto. Now it of course won’t feel the same with him not here seeing all our wonderful accomplishments in person, but he will see it above in heaven. Some things I was able to accomplish after he passed away was going to an amazing week long experience called ALA California Girls State, just a week after he passed away. Going back to his moto of living life as usual, I know he wouldn't have wanted me to miss this opportunity. It was an incredible experience, meeting such amazing people, and doing such amazing things in just a week that I know he would be so proud of. I was able to accomplish writing speeches which I was able to present to my City, County and party (federalist). I gave an oratorical speech which was on the use of AI, it had to been 3-5 minutes long, and you had to be able too present well and confidently. If you won you would be given a nice scholarship, which sadly I didn’t receive, but I really just wanted to do it for the speaking opportunity. Through this week long adventure I was really able to feel my dad with me. I knew how proud he would be of me, especially having endured the loss of him just a week prior. Thank you ALA Girls State for this wonderful opportunity.
The week I got back from Girls State I had received a message from a lady from Nor Cal Publishers and Authors (NCPA) telling me my dad and I were supposed to speak on June 12 for their writers club. She asked me if I was willing and able to write something to present in replace of my dad. I’ve known for a while that after my dad passed away I wanted to be able to keep his legacy alive, so I thought this was the perfect start. A few things I spoke about was his book Touched by Hannah, marketing and promotion ideas, his legacy, and how he inspired so many people and will continue to do so. people where touched by my speech and even asked me if I could speak for their writers groups, which I was so honored. I hope to be able to speak at more events like this and keep my dad’s legacy alive. I also hope to be able to keep up his newsletters, as this was something he loved doing and kept him very busy.
My dads service will be held at the church I go to, I'm very close with my church’s youth group, I’ve made so many amazing friends and they were the people there for me when I needed them most. My youth pastor had an amazing moment with my dad a few days before he passed away. We will forever be Greatful for that moment.
down below is information about where it will be held and what time it will be at.
Hope to see you there.
