OPERATION COMPLETE

released JULY 30, 2018 RELEASE 48 Operation Complete by Hello Whirled 5 outtakes from Open Casket Beach, 5 outtakes from Only Mostly There. "High Functioning Inadequacy" had a cool intro, so I recorded over it on my digital Portastudio and got "A Living Room In My Head" out of it. "Swan Cave" quickly turned into "Puzzle Piece", one of my favorite HW songs from the pre-Reaper era (2016-2019). The…

HISTORY WORTH REPEATING

released JULY 30, 2021 ALBUM 37, RELEASE 102 History Worth Repeating by Hello Whirled If I had to make a list of "top 5 favorite HW albums" this would be on it. I started writing this the day after I presented my senior thesis (known to you as No Victories) with the intent of making an album where every song had a 1-word title and was under 2 minutes long. I recorded loads of demos, and all but 4…

BIRTHPLACE OF AVARICE

released JULY 27, 2019 RELEASE 70 Birthplace Of Avarice by Hello Whirled The 3rd EP of outtakes from You Are Not Immune To Trends. "Red Eye Flight" has a lot of good pieces, but the drums really drop the ball and makes the whole thing sound messier than it really is. "Brighter" is supposed to be a dialogue between a moderately wealthy person and an impoverished person. The chorus is good but the…

WRITER'S BLOCK 6

released JULY 26, 2020 RELEASE 90 Writer's Block 6 by Hello Whirled Just 2 cover songs, but they're both over 10 minutes in length. I wish I'd done the backing vocals during the pre-chorus of "Jenny Ondioline", and I wish I'd done "Drill" a bit faster and with a little more variety in my mid-song shouting, but overall I think this came out okay. It's not a tremendously serious thing anyway.

HOPING FOR A LITTLE MORE...PIZZAZZ

released JULY 22, 2022 ALBUM 40, RELEASE 113 Hoping For A Little More...Pizzazz by Hello Whirled Listening to this immediately after Questions For Concerned Citizens was not a great idea. This is the only HW album specifically recorded for a label. Repeating Cloud reached out to me and asked if I'd put out an album with them, and I was just happy that anyone wanted to put out something of mine.…

THE PINKEST LIFESTYLE

released JULY 21, 2017 RELEASE 19 The Pinkest Lifestyle by Hello Whirled I'm not sure why this exists. It's not even bad or anything, but the originals total in length to 1:20, shorter than both of the covers individually. Listen if you dare, or something.

WHITE DIAMOND

released JULY 18, 2019 RELEASE 69 White Diamond by Hello Whirled EP 2 of 3 of songs that didn't make it onto You Are Not Immune To Trends (actually there's technically 4 but we're not there yet). I originally had wanted to include some new versions of a few non-album HW tracks, hence 2 new versions of "White Diamond", a new "Life Is Shit", and a new "Beads" on the 3rd EP. The first WD is good. Not…

HOME 0

released JULY 17, 2026 RELEASE 161 Home 0 by Hello Whirled The most recent one, at time of writing. I like "Buyout" a good bit, but it felt too slight for Automatic Panic, so I kept it off. It's a good song to lead an EP though. "Cheap Shocks" was recorded for In This House We Are Cold. I still think the riff is great, but the song itself runs out of steam about halfway through. "Prairie Prayer"…

FOR AGES, FOR A MINUTE

released JULY 16, 2021 RELEASE 101 For Ages, For A Minute by Hello Whirled Two things can be true. This show marked a turning point in HW as a live act, in that I performed in front of complete and total strangers who had nice things to say about it afterwards. One person was specifically blown away by how fast I strummed. This show was also a big mess. You can hear it in the soundboard recording.…

OPEN CASKET BEACH

released JULY 15, 2018 ALBUM 19, RELEASE 47 Open Casket Beach by Hello Whirled My first double album! Well, double album in the sense that it would need 2 slabs on vinyl for a record release. It's a little over an hour long. Most of the songs are not in standard (EADGBE) tuning because I was listening to a lot of Stephen Malkmus and was inspired to use other tunings. It started as a split with…
