This week’s fresh finds are inspired by my desire to build a timeless wardrobe. My closet currently has terrible storage and a configuration that makes no sense. I have dreams of a custom built-in — more on that another time — but the baby step felt obvious: find a dresser or armoire first.
Armoires are the actual solution to my closet dilemma, and the right one will make getting dressed feel like an event instead of a chore. I’ve scrolled past so many of these on Facebook Marketplace without stopping to click.
Closets today are built from MDF and veneer. Nobody’s building from solid wood anymore unless you pay a very pretty penny for it. Luckily, there’s no shortage of them on Marketplace. The interiors are thoughtfully built too: cubbies, interior drawers, little cabinets that would cost a fortune if commissioned today.
Psst. always ask to see these in person before bringing them home. Check for pests. Always.
Beyond function, an armoire is also an opportunity. It’s a statement piece, an anchor for your space, and another “vignette”.
