Welcome to a new week and it’s time to get the bread. So lets go!!!! 4 things Amaka did differently to land a remote job

1. I Skipped Applying and Started Pitching

I stopped sending out applications the traditional way and went on a heavy hunting spree on LinkedIn instead. I used cold emailing as my main leverage. I would scout a company I liked or one that was actively hiring, find the right person to reach out to, and pitch myself from the angle of a pain point they were facing. This approach alone landed me 4 interviews in just one month.

2. I Built the Right Connections From Every Role

When I got the role, I did not just do the work and clock out. I intentionally built connections with people in that role who could lead me to the next step. For every connection I made, I showed my value again and again. This meant that when the next opportunity came around, it came to me without me having to struggle for it.

3. I Applied on Job Sites That Were Not Saturated

In moments where I did want to apply rather than cold email, I focused on job sites that were not oversaturated with hundreds of applicants. This helped increase my chances significantly because I was not competing with thousands of people for the same role.

4. I Always Had My CV and Portfolio Ready

I never waited until I saw a job posting to start updating my CV or putting my portfolio together. I kept both ready at all times so that when an opportunity came up, I could move on it immediately without scrambling.
