Dear amazing readers,
Have you ever read the original versions of today’s beloved fairy tales? They were filled with blood, betrayal, murder, curses, and an alarming number of parents abandoning their children in forests.
Cinderella’s stepsisters cut off pieces of their feet to fit into the glass slipper.
The evil queen doesn’t just want Snow White dead. She wants the huntsman to bring back Snow White’s heart so she can eat it.
Yeah… The perfect imagery for a bedtime read...
So we cleaned up the stories. Disney added catchy songs, adorable woodland creatures, and enough glitter to distract everyone from the attempted murder.
But the darkness never disappeared completely.
Beauty and the Beast was never about a sweet prince with a temporary fur problem. It’s about a powerful, dangerous man and the woman who walks into his world knowing she should probably run in the opposite direction.
That was part of the inspiration behind Brutal.
Samson Vexley isn’t waiting for Delaney to save him. He knows exactly what he is, and he likes himself that way.
Delaney isn’t looking for a prince, either. She’s investigating a fifteen-year-old mystery, and her search for answers leads her straight to Samson.
There are no singing teacups. No belligerent clock. No enchanted rose.
Just secrets, obsession, dubious consent, and a very dangerous man who may have finally met the woman capable of challenging him.
Brutal, the first book in the Vexley Sin series, releases July 28.
Brutal begins the Vexley Sin Trilogy, a new series loosely inspired by timeless fairy tales and biblical stories and twisted into something far more wicked.
