Welcome to August—my birthday month! 🎉
I’ve always had a soft spot for this time of year. Summer is still in full swing, the gardens are overflowing, and there’s something about turning the calendar to August that makes me pause and reflect with gratitude.
This year feels especially meaningful because later this month, my sweet grandson will celebrate his first birthday. I can hardly believe it. It seems like just yesterday I was meeting that precious little bundle for the first time, and now he’s already toddling his way through his first year of life. If there’s one thing becoming a grandmother has taught me, it’s just how quickly time passes—and how important it is to savor every season.
That brings me to a quote I’ve always loved from Abraham Lincoln:
“In the end, it’s not the years in your life that count. It’s the life in your years.”
What a beautiful reminder. Birthdays aren’t simply about counting another candle on the cake—they’re an opportunity to celebrate the memories we’ve made, the people we’ve loved, and the adventures still waiting just around the corner.
As I look ahead to another year, I’m filled with excitement. More stories to write. More family memories to make. More books to share with all of you, who have been such a wonderful part of this journey.
So whether you’re celebrating a birthday this month or simply celebrating another beautiful day, I hope you’ll take a moment to appreciate how full life can be when we embrace it with an open heart.
