Chantelle Soft Stretch Thong: A couple of months ago, I turned to this Substack chat to ask what underwear you were all loving. A pair that was immensely comfortable, but that didn’t feel (or look) frumpy. There were several repeat suggestions, but the clear favorite was this one. I promptly ordered several pairs and, two months later, ordered a few more. They’re all I want to wear.
Watching: After crying my eyes out over Voicemails for Isabelle (which, by the way, was so good), I was in the mood for something light and fun. Enter Not Suitable for Work, created by Mindy Kaling. It’s about several 20-somethings trying to navigate work and life in Murray Hill. It’s been the perfect palate cleanser, and while it can be slightly cheesy, it’s really fun. I’m also watching it with my husband, which is a rarity.
Listening to: I’m always listening to one of my favorite albums of all time, Mariah Carey’s The Emancipation of Mimi. It’s what I’ve been putting on as background WFH music, and it takes me right back to my late 20s, commuting into the city. This is me when I listen to it.
Butter-Colored Denim: What’s crazy is that I haven’t craved this much color since 2015. I’m not entirely sure what’s changed, but I’m leaning into it. I’ve picked up a few pieces that seamlessly weave into what I already own. These butter-colored jeans from Staud make me happy, and they’re surprisingly easy to style. Call it ketchup and mustard if you want, but I’ve always loved the combination of a soft yellow and cherry red.
Koala Eco Lemon Kitchen Cleaner: In an effort to use cleaning products with fewer chemicals, especially in the kitchen, I ordered this cleaning spray. When I tell you, it might be the best-smelling cleaning product I’ve ever tried. It smells like fresh lemons, without all of the fake, headache-inducing ingredients, and it actually cleans well! An immediate repurchase.
Sarah Creal Liner in Grey Area: I’m a fan of everything that I’ve tried from Sarah Creal. That sounds like a bold statement, but there hasn’t been a single beauty product that I haven’t liked. The pencil liners are at the top of the list, and I’ve been quite into the latest color, Grey Area. It’s such a good color when you want something with a touch of drama, without the intensity of black.
Denim-on-denim, no matter the season. In the winter, it’s jeans with a denim shirt. In the summer, it’s a denim skirt with a denim jacket. It’s one of my most-worn combinations whenever I’m at a loss for what to wear, and I love how it creates the perfect base for adding fun accessories.
Valentino Mules: I spotted these online, and what started as, “I’m just going to order them to see if I love them,” quickly turned into wanting to wear them with everything. They’re surprisingly comfortable as far as heels go, and I love how the little heart adds such a sweet touch to my outfits. Also, I realized the last time I bought a pair of Valentino shoes was the Rockstuds back in 2014.
Sizing: I normally wear an 8.5 or a 39, and I sized up to a 39.5 in these.
A recent podcast I’ve listened to and really enjoyed: Dear Nina Podcast episode on traveling with friends. A thoughtful conversation about the joys and challenges of traveling with friends, and just how beneficial it can be for deepening a friendship.
Pistola Shorts: These feel like the perfect marriage of denim shorts and tailored trouser shorts. They’re polished enough to dress up but still casual enough for everyday wear.
Chris McMillan The Glassy Smooth Blowdry Spray: The best pre-blow-dry product that I’ve tried for achieving a smoother blowout and keeping frizz at bay.
Negative Pajamas Whipped Shorts: There are several sleeping shorts that I rotate, but none compare to the whipped shorts from Negative. They’re as thin as could be and the most comfortable, breathable, gauziest material. In general, I love everything in the whipped collection, and while the Amazon version isn’t 100% on par, it’s a fabulous alternative.
Titanique on Broadway. I went into this show with zero expectations, and it was laugh-out-loud funny. Highly recommend if you’re craving a night of live theater, lots of laughs and some incredible vocals.
