Is every millennial wondering how every other millennial is doing it? Maybe millennial is too specific, but what I mean is anyone at the age of raising a family and somehow also running a homestead or side business. How on earth is what seems like EVERYONE doing it?

There used to be pressure in high school to drink. Smoke. Do the deed. You get the drift.

What I didn’t know is you grow up and that peer pressure turns into running a homestead, making $40K a month as a content creator, traveling to Italy every summer with your toddlers in tow, and having and homeschooling multiple children at the same time.

homestead? homeschool? a farm? ya want some?

Shots. Shots. Shots. VOMIT!

It’s too much! It’s the adult version of tequila.

I look around, and by around I mean I see short snippets of videos on YouTube of families living “what dreams are made of,” in the terms of Hilary Duff.

It’s almost like heaven has met earth, and they are living on cloud nine right there on a plot of land in Tennessee.

I want to believe it. That it’s all this effortless. But let me tell you a story of this morning.

My parents, who live a couple houses down and have a small homestead, asked us to take care of their animals while they are gone on a trip. This morning, I found myself in a pasture with a miniature pony and a full-grown cow with horns, trying to separate them as they were not meant to be in the same pasture.

“heyyy you two, you’re not supposed to be in the same pasture. Can we seperate? Save room for Jesus?”

My three boys watched from the wheelbarrow I parked outside the fence, and I gave them each a kiss like I was walking into an arena of life and death.

“It’s been a good life. Here goes nothing.”
