“its not impossible enough,” sho said, irritated. he wasnt getting through to us.
minutes before, sho had implored us to devise an “impossible goal” as a group.
“id love to make a little bit of money so i dont have to work shitty jobs as much,” i boldly proposed, remembering my last shift when i accidentally flung mop water into my own open mouth.
“bro thats ur impossible goal?” conor laughed, then stopped, concerned.
“thats upsetting, i like it.”
this was just an exercise from a method sho had been working on for the past year to mentally prime his clients for success.
could we prime ourselves?
therapists dont sit themselves in front of a mirror and tease out their own childhood traumas the way a gifted evangelist healer teases out demonic energies from some convulsing volunteer. there is a process, and decorum, and headbodylegs just deftly placed an apple onto teach’s desk.
we embark on a nutty 90-day challenge next week, so pls stay tuned.
our next single “boy named diamond” comes out november.
