It’s hard to know exactly what to make of Hawthorn right now.

The draw against Collingwood was frustrating and littered with moments the Hawks would desperately like to have again. Dylan Moore’s final kick was the obvious one, but there were plenty of other opportunities left out there.

More concerning is the bigger picture. Hawthorn has now produced an indifferent month of football at precisely the wrong time of the year. The pressure has dropped away, the balance of the side remains a talking point and teams appear to have found ways to trouble the Hawks.

Or, as Brad puts it rather succinctly: “I think we’re just in poor form. That’s just the reality.”

There’s also plenty to celebrate, with Jack Gunston reaching game 300 after an extraordinary late-career renaissance, while Box Hill heads into the finals from third and Hawthorn’s AFLW side showed plenty despite an opening-round loss to Melbourne.
