Catching up with Heidi Caillier

I’m back from our adventure out West (more on that next weekend) and catching up with Heidi Caillier feels very fitting since it’s her neck of the woods. I was first introduced to her cozy, thoughtful interiors a few years back by a former client, Katie Gaston, the founder of Baybala. It was before Heidi’s first book debuted, before her collection with Lulu & Georgia broke the licensing mold, and before Heidi disrupted the internet with this AD story. I had clearly been living under a rock (!) and loved the whole vibe instantly. For starters, there’s zero pretension. Add to that her sophisticated mashups of antiques and pattern and color and inventive energy and it’s all just…enchanting. She’s currently hard at work on a second book, due out in the fall of 2027 with Rizzoli, and thankful for the lessons she learned producing the first. “I underestimated how much work it was and I genuinely had no idea everything that goes into it,” she said. “It really made me think about book design, colors, fonts, layouts—all things I had no experience with. I was thankful that Haris Kenjar, my photographer and good friend, was able to provide valuable feedback. It was something we worked on together. It also just felt like such a huge milestone, a real pinch me moment.”

The runaway success of her collaboration with Lulu & Georgia came as a surprise. “There is so much out there that looks the same and I designed the collection to feel layered and collected,” she says. “It’s been really wonderful to see it resonate with so many people.” Some of my favorite pieces in Heidi’s mix include this wallpaper, this fabric, this chair, this basket, and this lamp. And guess what? There are more new pieces on the way from Heidi and the Lulu & Georgia team, so keep your eye out.

She’s also adding to her rug assortment with Joon Loloi and designing an exciting collection of wallpaper and textiles with Elizabeth Eakins that launches in January 2027. What a lineup! Luckily she was taking a little downtime in Italy when we chatted and I asked her what she does to keep herself grounded with all that she has going on. “Traveling is something I do often because it reminds me how big the world is and how big life is and that it is not just about work or clients.” Yes to more of that!

Summer Linens

I wrote about one of the marbled looks by Goldie Home here and and their blue-grey gingham-y, crosshatch motif below feels right on time for summer entertaining. The watercolor brushstrokes are rendered on heirloom-quality, luxe linen and sewn in Portugal. I also love the same checked look in this citron hue and this shocking pink pattern. It’s all very lively and fun. And I’m so appreciative that the female-led team at Goldie Home supported the production of this newsletter.

Bring on the Bangles

The older I get, the less jewelry I wear, but I'm always down to throw on a bangle or a cuff. I collect them and right now I’m into green takes on the idea (malachite, jadeite, mint, lime, chartreuse). Shop my full edit here.

—I really admire what’s happening with WOW!house in London. It’s so smart. If you’re planning to attend in person, you can still grab tickets and visit through July 2nd. And if you have to live vicariously through images like I do, don’t miss this insane garden folly a la Hector Finch and this dreamy bedroom by Salvesen Graham.

—I don’t do any form of swim that I can’t move around in and I totally forgot about a sleeper swimwear brand launched in the eighties that makes THE BEST ONE PIECE EVER. It’s textured like Hunza G but has way more coverage. It’s so comfortable I could sleep in it and I’ve never said that about a bathing suit in my life. I bought it in white and in black and it looks fantastic with these and this and this. Shop the whole edit here.

—My client, Amanda Horan, the founder of Line + Cleat, is endlessly creative and she officially launched life jackets for dogs just in time for summer boat season. I always put one on Auggie (my Australian labradoodle) when we’re on the water because you never know what might happen. Dogs are precious cargo.
