Drivers are being urged to allow extra time for journeys as gasworks are about to get underway.
Multiway temporary traffic lights will in place for several weeks on the Coast Road in Blackhall while Northern Gas Networks carries out “essential” work.
The gas distributor is replacing ageing metal pipework with new, more durable plastic pipes on the A1086 between Evergreen Holiday Park and Seaview Park Homes.
The project, planned in collaboration with Hartlepool Borough Council and Durham County Council, starts on Tuesday, September 1, and is expected to last until the start of November.
Site manager Nigel Pearson from Northern Gas Networks, said: “We would like to apologise in advance for any inconvenience caused during these essential works.
“However, it’s vital we complete them in order to continue to maintain a safe and reliable gas supply to the residents of Hartlepool.”
