I’ve been sitting on this news for a several months now. It still doesn’t feel real, even though I have a signed contract that says, yes, it is indeed true that my little manuscript, the work of my heart and mind, is going to be a real, printed book.
I am so excited to share this announcement with all of you! There aren’t too many details yet, but I want to tell a bit of the story of how this has come to be.
In 2024, I told my husband I was going to start a Substack and post every week. I put my best effort into that, and found myself falling in love with writing. As 2025 approached, I knew I needed another challenge to continue my creative growth. God made it very clear to me that it was time to write a book. And over nine months, I did. It wasn’t very glamourous. Most of the time, I wrote in fifteen minutes stints during toddler nap time, or beside the bathtub as my baby splashed my laptop mercilessly. It felt like I was living Ashlee Gadd’s Create Anyway: The Joy of Pursuing Creativity in the Margins of Motherhood. 1 Special emphasis on the margins part!
But despite my attempts to quite, and multiple months where I completely abandoned my manuscript, a draft was completed. A query letter was sent, and in a whirlwind of events, my books was accepted for publication with a traditional publishing house here in Canada.
As much as I know my book will be read by other people, God has used it to do his work in my own heart. Please pray for me, as I am still in the thick of editing.
And look for Rediscovering Rest, in late summer/fall 2026.
n other news, I have also started a new writing project called Edith Stein Speaks. It will be a once a month letter, with a deep dive into a passage from Edith Stein’s writings. I am slowly learning what I love to write and right now that is Edith Stein and food, respectively. If you’re interested in learning more about Edith Stein and her work on femininity, masculinity and spirituality, consider subscribing. You won’t automatically be subscribed even if you are following Searching for Shalom.
