Several months ago I was contacted by Erica Palgon, outreach producer for a global media company called RadicalMedia. Erica is based in New York and we had worked together previously on a project for Apple.
It seemed random, but she was looking for stories for a new launch called Stories by Us. Its slogan is “Everyday Americans Taking Action.”
Stories By Us is commissioned by a coalition of nonprofit organizations working in communities across the United States. These include Realize the Dream, the MacArthur Foundation, More Perfect, Giving Tuesday, Stand Together and Goodwill. The platform shares personal stories about people making a difference for their neighbors, in hopes of inspiring others to do their part.
Erica inquired about Harrison. I told her about him graduating from college at Colorado Mountain College in Leadville and the support he received from the entire community.
This quickly spun into a discussion in the RadicalMedia office and led to me helping them produce a photo essay about the support system Harrison was fortunate to have found in the nation’s highest incorporated city. It was recently released, just in time for the July Fourth holiday.
It’s good to see Leadville get some recognition for all the support the community has provided. Here is the link:
